Privacy Policy for AJCE Contacts

AJCE Contacts ("we", "our", "app") is an application for browsing Amal Jyothi College of Engineering contact information and optionally identifying incoming calls from AJCE contacts.

1. Information We Access

Depending on enabled features, the app may access:

• Phone state information (READ_PHONE_STATE) to detect incoming calls for optional Caller ID.
• Contacts (READ_CONTACTS) to suppress overlay if the incoming number already exists in your personal contacts.
• Overlay permission (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) to display caller information over the call screen when enabled.
• Internet access to fetch AJCE directory data from configured APIs.

2. How We Use Information

• Show AJCE staff directory and contact details.
• Match incoming numbers with locally cached AJCE contact data.
• Show Caller ID overlay for matching AJCE numbers (only when user enables this feature).

3. Data Storage and Processing

• AJCE directory/staff data may be cached locally on your device.
• Incoming phone numbers for Caller ID are processed on-device.
• We do not sell personal data.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share user personal contacts or incoming call numbers with third parties for advertising purposes. If backend APIs are used for AJCE data sync, only required directory-related requests are sent.

5. Optional Feature Control

Caller ID is optional and can be enabled/disabled in app settings. Permissions can be revoked anytime from Android settings.

6. Data Retention

Locally cached data remains on the device until app data is cleared, app is uninstalled, or storage is manually cleared.

7. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect locally stored data and app communications. No system guarantees absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy

This app is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted with a revised effective date.
